Bloomsbury is the area that lies to the north of Holborn and the Strand, south of Euston Road, east of Tottenham Court Road and west of the City. It achieved notoriety when in the early 1900’s the Bloomsbury set, a group of artists, writers and intellectuals moved into the area. The Bloomsbury set has gone down in history for the many contributions its members made to literature, art, and the social sciences. Today it still maintains a somewhat bohemian air and community feel. Residential prices have always historically been cheaper than neighbouring Covent Garden and Fitzrovia although in recent years the gap is somewhat closing.

For shops The Brunswick centre WC1N1AF serves the local community and has an array of shops and conveniences including: Morrisons supermarket, a gym, cash points, launderette, cafes and The Renoir Cinema. Alternatively Oxford Street and Tottenham Court are within walking distance.
